OMG my heart rate still hasn’t returned to normal after that Superbowl game. It was way tooooooo close for comfort! For a few minutes there I actually thought my team wasn’t going to pull it off. I thought that the Cardinals had actually come back and won it! But an amazing catch at the end of the game by Santonio Holmes put the Steelers back in the lead putting them in position to walk away as the winners! It was certainly an amazing game. The Cardinals played hard and didn’t give up even back in the beginning when they were pretty far behind.

I’m pretty clueless when it comes to football. Like I still don’t understand all those downs and flag on a play, etc etc but let me tell ya it totally didn’t stop me from getting into it! I was like a mad woman. Yelling at the TV, pulling my hair, biting my nails and even almost dropping my laptop! My face is still flushed, heart rate still up and butterflies in my stomach.

I think the butterflies in my stomach might be from something other than the football game. Well actually it pertains to the football game. I think it has something to do with head coach Mike Tomlin. OMG that man is F-I-N-E FINE! Talk about some eye candy! Steeler football took on a whole new meaning for me tonight

Here’s a couple Google images I found of him

I enjoyed our weekend at Shanty Creek. We had three adjoining rooms and I wish I would of checked in sooner than I did because I totally would of taken the 2nd room, the one that had the kitchenette and the jacuzzi tub and the fireplace. The room we were in was nice but it was kind of just like any other room we’d been in before. But I’m totally NOT complaining!

My sister M stayed in one room, Caleb & I in one and then my new step sister L, her husband J and their son S stayed in the middle room. Sat night my new step brother’s T & R also hung out up there. It was nice hanging out with them all getting to know them better.

I didn’t get to ‘relax’ as much as I had planned but that’s entirely ok too. Caleb and I swam in the outdoor pool for a couple hours Saturday afternoon after my dad’s wedding. It was nice but man it wore me out! I don’t know if it was from a couple straight hours of swimming or from the heat (it was the outdoor pool we were at) or a combo of both – probably a combo of both.

Here are some pics:

I miss the bed from the room! Oh my goodness I can’t even begin to explain how ‘relaxing’ it was just crawling under the covers. Seriously that bed was to die for! Maybe if I had a bed like that at home I’d start sleeping!

OMG OMG OMG! I totally interrupt your regular scheduled programming to talk about NKOTB! Yes it’s all about New Kids on the Block yet again. Don’t blame it on me, blame it on my friend Heather! No seriously it’s all her fault I just read her blog post about the NKOTB concert on The Today Show on Friday and I had to go back and re-watch it because I missed a VERY VERY important part. So it really is her fault that I’m writing about them again. (thanks Heather for pointing out this important part that I missed!)

So because of her blog post I was so disappointed that I had to go back and re-watch the whole concert to see the part she referenced (thank goodness for my DVR & having it recorded…LOL). Disappointed my rump! I’ll be replaying their concert off and on whenever I get the urge to get my NKOTB fix.

And oh man let me say it was so worth re-watching it. Donnie lifted his shirt and I was like hello! Too bad he was kind of ‘hiding’ in the background when he did it and you didn’t get all that great of a view. Well it was a good view but it could of been better

It’s funny to see them 15 years later – they have certainly aged well and I actually think some of them look a heck of a lot better now than they did way back when. Jordan is still cute but I have to say that I like Donnie a lot more now-a-days which is funny cause back then I didn’t really care all that much for him. It just must be that ‘bad boy’ way about him that tickles my fancy.

Ok I’ve openly admitted the fact that even after all these years I still like NKOTB (New Kids on the Block). I was in love obsessed with them back in the early 90’s (it might of even been late 80’s) when they first came out and I longed to see them in person and get any chance I could to be close to Jordan Knight (oh he was super dreamy! I never did get a chance to go to a concert). I owned VHS tapes, sheets, bedspread, buttons, t-shirts, a watch, and even a duffel bag. None of that compares to all the Teen Bop magazines I had to buy to decorate my wall (every inch of it – you honestly couldn’t see an empty spot on my wall!) with NKOTB.

Oh those were the days.

Maybe NKOTB is a guilty pleasure or just part of me trying to hang onto my youth or maybe it’s all part of a mid-life crisis? Oh wait I think only men go through those Whatever the cause may be, I’m happy excited to announce they will be appearing live on The Today Show this morning to perform a concert! Yes a concert!

I can’t wait! My DVR is set to record their appearance but I’ll be watching it too! I think I might be a little too geeked about this but hey I can’t help it, it’s big news for any NKOTB fan! Seriously, it is! Maybe this will help cure that longing that I still have to see them in concert. Should a 30 something woman be admitting she still has a secret longing to see them? Guess it’s not so secret anymore

And I have to say that Jordan Knight is still kind of dreamy but Mark Wahlberg kind of got my attention back when he started appearing in movies. He’s kind of sexy in that bad boy sort of way.

Last night on Twitter my friend Shannon mentioned that she was drinking a nice glass of Boone’s Farm. Yes Boone’s Farm! It made me laugh and it literally took me on a trip down memory lane. It turned into a Twitter conversation about Boone’s Farm with a couple other friends – Heather and Tricia and suddenly we were all reminiscing about days past!

So of course it inspired a blog post. Go figure!

Boone’s Farm was the very first drink of alcohol I ever had. I was a Senior in highschool, pretty impressive that I made it to my Senior year without EVER drinking. Anyways my mom & step dad moved me to a really small red neck town. When I say small I mean small…K-12th grade is all in one building & there were 21 in my graduating class!!!! Considering it was a small red neck town you can probably imagine what all the kids did. You guessed right if you said listen to country music, drink, campfires, mudding and anything else along those red neck lines.

I was invited to a party out in the middle of nowhere…called the B yards and I have no reasoning behind why they were called that. But it was literally out in the middle of nowhere – the perfect place for a bunch of rowdy underage drinking kids! I had no intention of drinking. I knew there would be drinking going on but I had no desire in it and figured that wouldn’t change. Boy was I wrong!

I was handed a bottle of Strawberry Hill Boone’s Farm and instructed to just try one sip. I lifted the bottle to my nose…yes my nose. I had to sniff it first. I hadn’t ever tried beer (back then) because I couldn’t stomach the smell of it. it smelled good when I sniffed it so I decided to take a sip. Not a drink but a sip. That sip turned into the whole bottle being gone before I knew it! I felt pretty light headed and giggly but I was having fun. When a 2nd bottle was handed to me I didn’t think anything of opening it up drinking more of it. It was some grape flavored kind this time. I remember asking everyone what happened to my drink when I picked up the bottle to take a swig & it was empty (yeah as if a big ole bottle is just another ‘drink’!). I don’t remember drinking it and then I was handed a 3rd bottle! This time it was some apple flavor and it was going down pretty smooth. But all of a sudden I wasn’t feeling so good.

I told my friend that I wasn’t feeling good & she told her boyfriend. Her boyfriend said I’d be ok once I threw up. And sure enough the next thing I knew I was barfing…puking my brains out is more like it! Out in the middle of nowhere with loud music, a campfire roaring, lots of people around watching me to make sure I was ok (I think they all got a kick out of the fact they all got me so messed up & now I was puking!). As soon as the vomiting episode was over someone was standing right there with that 3rd bottle that was still pretty full telling me now I made room for more alcohol and could finish it off.

Guess what? I’d like to say I was smart enough to not finish that bottle off but I wasn’t. And there was more throwing up that night and well into the next day. It was rough! I remember feeling like I had been hit by a truck, the slightest noise made my head hurt worse than it already did, the smell of food made me throw up (and you know what? dry heaving was no fun!!!!), and I really thought I was dying! I did not think I was going to survive that very first hangover.

YUCK! I can’t believe I remember that so well. It feels so fresh in my mind, just like it happened yesterday. Man that was a LOOONG time ago…I’m getting old LOL
