Softball is in the Air…
…or maybe that was supposed to say spring is in the air
Which spring is in the air. Well kind of. It flutters back and forth between being in the 50’s – 60’s to being in the 30’s. But the snow has melted. As in all of it. And that makes me a happy camper.
Anyways. I love softball. I’ve loved it ever since I first played it in the 6th grade. I loved it even more the older I got and the better I got at it. By the end of my Senior year season I walked away with a couple different awards and recognitions. One of the saddest things about being a Senior was knowing that I wouldn’t play ball again.
Thankfully I’ve had the opportunity to play on a few leagues a couple different times. One of the 1st things I was excited about after moving down here and getting settled into my new church was finding out they had a softball league!
The last couple weeks I’ve been seeing signs about the first softball meeting. But I was a bit disappointed that I wouldn’t be playing because of my back. This morning I was exceptionally disappointed because the meeting is tomorrow night. I’ve been praying for and believing in healing but decided that I could use some extra prayer this morning. At the end of service the prayer team is always up front if you need prayer for anything so I took the opportunity. I walked out of there with more flexibility and movement than I’ve had in about a month (maybe it’s only been like 2 or 3 weeks..don’t remember for sure)! I’ve done things around the house today with less pain than I’ve felt in a long time. I walked through Wal-Mart while Caleb and I grocery shopped for an hour-n-half and didn’t burst out in tears by the time we got home because of pain. I’m sitting at my computer desk for the first time in awhile without pain shooting up my back or down my legs.
So I’m going to that softball meeting tomorrow night. I know that by the time practices start my back will be 100% healed and I’ll be as good as new and ready to go! Even more exciting than getting to play the sport I love is that I’ll be interacting socially on a pretty frequent basis I’m sure and meeting new people.

Sounds like fun! I never did sports, but my oldest loved softball, too! It may be good for your back with the stretching and moving in ways you don’t usually do. Prayers sent for you from me, too!

Hello nice to to meet you. Thanks for stopping by one my end of the blogging world.
I’m ashamed to admit I was not much of a softball player. I could never hit the ball. lol! I was more a soccer player. I looked so funny trying to swing at the ball. lol!
Look forward to more fun posts.

Good for you, it sounds like a lot of fun. I’ve never actually been on a league, but I used to help out on my aunts softball league when I was a kid. I was the bat girl.
Lately my son has shown an interest in little league, but so many times he will want to sign up for something, then give it a try and not want to do it anymore, so I don’t know if I should sign him up or not. Seems with all the equipment he’s going to need, it won’t be cheap…

Stefani – softball was the one thing I excelled at and the one sport I truly loved. I tried all the other ones (volleyball, basketball, etc) and they just weren’t for me. And while I like softball just for the ‘fun’ aspect of it I can get pretty competitive too. LOL
Deanna – Thanks for the prayers about my back. I’m still having problems with it but as I said in my blog post it’s not anything like it was. I appreciate the prayers!
Betty – Soccer is one sport I never actually tried. It never interested me. I always thought that a bunch of people running around a field chasing after a ball was so pointless and silly. The irony of that way of thinking is softball is kind of like that in the sense that people chase after a ball to catch it and run around a field too. Hmmm…guess there is more similarity there than I thought. LOL
Shannon – I know what you mean about your son wanting to sign up for things but then not wanting to do it anymore. I’ve made a rule now (my son is 10 so he understands the ‘why’ behind it) that anything I pay for that he wants to play or do he has to follow through all the way to the end of the season. It makes him really stop and think about things before making a decision about what he wants to do.

Tishia, I noticed the other day my spring bulbs were starting to come up and I was so excited. And although I don’t play softball I know how exciting the first signs of spring can be.
