A Trip Up North Turned Sour on The Way Back South

I enjoyed today – Monday, now almost Tuesday considering it’s just about midnight. I was up North where I used to live and got to hang out at my friend Mary’s house while doing some work. Let’s not talk about how long it took the 2 of us to figure out how to get my laptop connected to her wireless network ;-) You’d think 2 brains were better than 1 right? Well in this case it ended up being Mary’s brain was better than mine cause she’s the 1 that figured it out. Any-who it was nice catching up with her, it’s been way too long.

Then we, Caleb and I (he didn’t have school today because of some sort of teacher’s records day or something crazy like that) had a great family dinner with my mom, step dad, brother & sis-n-law. It was the perfect ending to send us off home other than I was tired and knew I had a 3 – 3 1/2 hour trip back and then several VA projects to work on once home.

We had a nice trip other than we had to stop about 1/2 way home because I was falling asleep. Sleeping and driving certainly are a dangerous combination. So we stopped for about 15-20 minutes and Caleb let me take a little cat nap. Then we headed out on the last leg of the journey with about 1 – 1 1/2 hours left.

Everything was going along smoothly, we were just hitting the first exits in the 140 range meaning about 30-40 more minutes left to get home when suddenly this horrible noise and shaking began. I thought for sure it was another flat tire because that’s exactly what it sounded like. I had to drive for several minutes at until I could pull off at the first available exit. And let’s just say that doing between 35-40 on the expressway isn’t liked by other drivers. I was too shaken up and nervous to even try to get my Hazards turned on.

I pull into the first gas station off the exit ramp, get out praying it wasn’t a flat tire because I do not have a spare tire at the moment (it’s on my van right now because of the 2 stupid flat tires I just recently had to deal with) and instead of being relieved it wasn’t a flat tire I freaked out thinking OMG what am I supposed to do? I can’t drive my van making this noise. So once again I had to call B. I swear her husband has got to hate me living down here because every time he turns around Tishia needs help AGAIN.

So now here it is 11:47pm and we just got home about 30 minutes ago. Both Caleb and B’s daughter K will get about 6 hours of sleep tonight – poor kids. And all I want to do is take a hot shower, put on jammies, curl up in bed and cry but I can’t because I have work to do.

I’m so sick and tired of driving piece of crap old ancient (seriously this van is 18 years old! 18!!!!) vehicles that break down or something goes wrong every time I turn around. This van is like my 3rd or 4th vehicle in the last 2 years, maybe 3 years. It SUCKS!!!!!

As for the medicine helping stabilize my moods? Yeah I don’t think so cause let me just say that it certainly did NOTHING to help stabilize my mood tonight that’s for sure. As for handling the situation and the stress of it? Nope. Nada. Nothing. Didn’t pass that test that’s for sure.

Nothing worse than being stuck somewhere with a broke down car. Did you find out what was wrong with it? Glad to hear you made it home safely…
