I wrote the other day about the car situation. Caleb and I have temporarily moved residence to the best friend’s & hubby’s house every night until we figure something out about the car situation. I watch their daughter in the mornings and after school so I have to be here and well with no car…yeah you get the point.

This kind of feels like de ja vue. Before I moved down here and was staying a couple week’s over the summer B’s poor hubby S had to spend like 3 or 4 nights working on my computer because it got a virus. One thing I’m glad of – he’s a very persistent person and doesn’t give up until the situation is resolved. But I felt bad over the summer because it wasn’t his situation to have to resolve but he did it.

And then there’s now. The past 2 days once again all S has been doing is trying to figure out what to do about MY car situation. Tonight he had me go outside with him because he wanted to check a couple things. When I posted about the smoke billowing out from under the hood and the battery light coming on I forgot to mention about the overwhelming antifreeze smell coming into my car through the register.

When we were outside earlier and I had the car running (the first time) I got a headache because of the strong antifreeze smell. It made my eyes and nose burn too. S found that there’s definitely antifreeze leaking from somewhere. It’s all over their driveway.

We came back inside and back to the computer S went. A little bit later back outside we went so he could check a couple more things. He had me start it and this time I couldn’t sit in the car because the antifreeze smell was too much to handle. As I was standing in front of the car looking at the engine (cause I know what I’m looking at and everything…lol) I saw this red spot and as I was pointing and saying “what’s that” sparks started flying and smoke started rolling. S was like “hurry shut it off” as I was dashing to the side of the car half expecting it to blow up!

The sparks and smoke were coming from the alternator which would explain why the battery light came on. The alternator charges the battery. (See how smart I am? LOL ok so I didn’t really know that - S explained it to me). S is baffled and hasn’t ever seen something like that before. Yeah go figure leave it to MY car to be a freak of nature and provide a situation that is abnormal. And a situation that isn’t good. 

Ok so the battery light mystery is solved – it’s from the sparking alternator. But that still doesn’t explain the leaking antifreeze and why the inside of my car is smelling like antifreeze.

Prognosis? Not looking good here.

It’s 11:15pm and I should be at home. Working. Instead I’m sitting on the couch of my best friends house in their lower level (so not to wake them while I type on the laptop) crying and feeling defeated. I know that there are WAY worse situations that others are going through and I keep reminding myself of that. It’s still hard to not freak out. Sigh.

Time to try and force myself to get some sleep seems how there isn’t anything work wise I can do on B’s laptop.
