Red Sox vs Tigers
The Detroit Tigers are playing tonight against the Boston Red Sox. They are playing at CoMerica park, the Tiger’s ‘home turf’. Not surprisingly the Tigers are losing. It may not be surprising but it’s disappointing! I’d like to see them win some more. Right now they have lost 18 and won 14. A couple of my fave players for the Tigers are Placido Polanco (2nd baseman), Ivan Rodriguez (catcher) and Jeremy Bonderman (pitcher).
I like the Red Sox too so it’s ok they are winning…LOL! The Red Sox have won 20 and lost 13 so far.
As for the Red Sox my fave players are Josh Beckett (pitcher), Jacoby Ellsbury (center field) and Jason Varitek (catcher).
The final score for the game was Red Sox 6, Tigers 3. Yeah Red Sox! The Tigers really need to step up their game a little. I think all the fans are getting tired of seeing them lose all the time.
I love baseball! I would like to go to a Tigers game this summer but it’s not gonna happen, too many other things going on and there is no way my car would make it that far…LOL! So I’ll settle for watching it on TV and going to the Traverse City Beach Bums games. The Beach Bums are fun to watch and they are only an hour away and with Nicole & Dennis living in Traverse City I always have the option of crashing at their place if I don’t want to drive back home after the game.
Now I just have to learn the ‘jist’ of football. I’m so clueless when it comes to this sport but yet I like watching it. Doesn’t make any sense to me. About the only thing I understand about this sport is touchdown. I’m totally clueless when it comes to what all the downs mean, blah, blah, blah.

I love the Tigers. When I was little we lived in Michigan and my Dad would listen to the game on the radio every night they played. I am still a Tigers fan till this day.
Also with football – I love football too, lol! I do know the downs stuff:
Basically they have 4 tries to get the ball 10 yards down the field. So when they say 1st and 10 – it means it is their first attempt to move the ball 10 yards, and the 10 means they have 10 yards to go.
So for example if they say it is 2nd and 3 it means they are on their 2nd attempt and they have 3 yards to go to reach a total of 10 yards.
Once they make it the 10 yards then they have 4 attempts again to move 10 more yards and they keep doing this until they make a touchdown, punt the ball, or go for a field goal.
Most of the time if they have alot of yards to go on the 4th attempt they will either go for a field goal (if they are close enough to the goal) or just punt the ball. They usually punt the ball because they want to have the other team start on the opposite side of the field.
Also with the downs, if you ever see like 1st and goal it means they are within 5 yards *I think* of the goal.
There are so many other rules, but once you learn the downs the games become even more fun to watch, seriously, I am such a huge football fan because I finally learned the downs.

Thanks Heather…that helps a little. It still sounds confusing but yet it’s starting to make sense (if that makes any sense…LOL).
