I don’t generally watch the Miss America pageants but the past couple years I’ve watched just out of curiosity. I’m glad that I watched Saturday because it hit close to home. They crowned Miss Michigan as Miss America! I was giddy for her And she was even one of the ones that I really liked so I was happy with the outcome.

Miss Michigan Kirsten Haglund left for the Miss America Pageant with a clear intention, and a firm belief in God’s plan for her life.

“She was focused. She said ‘I intend to come back with the crown,’ ” said Bob Kendall, who along with his wife, Mary, served as Haglund’s host family while she was in Muskegon preparing for the pageant.

Haglund won the crown during Saturday’s Miss America Live! pageant. Her whirlwind ride as Miss America began today as she embarked on a New York City media tour.
