OMG I’m trying not to laugh at Caleb and his friend Donovan right now. Kids have the craziest, cutest, funniest conversations ever! I’m sitting here at my desk and they are on the couch watching TV (I moved my office back to where I originally had it in the dining room area) so I’m hearing everything they are saying.

Donovan: I’m bored

Caleb: Me too

Donovan: What do you want to do?

Caleb: Play the drums (umm he doesn’t have any mind you)

Donovan: That would ROCK but one problem Caleb, neither one of us have any drums (at which point I’m really holding a giggle back!)

Caleb: Yeah I know

Donovan: And besides it’s not like either one of us know how to play the drums

Caleb: Yeah well Seth is going to teach me how to play the drums. Seth is my mom’s really cool Army boyfriend. He’s in the sandbox (ummm I guess he must of heard me refer to Iraq as the sandbox! Guess he listens to my conversations more than I’m aware of…LOL)

Donovan: What’s the sandbox? You mean he’s in a sandbox that you play in?

Caleb: No Donovan the sandbox is Iraq. You know where the war is going on right now?

Donovan: Oh. I didn’t know that’s what it was called

Caleb: Everyone knows it’s called the sandbox because there is so much sand over there (I have no clue where this answer came from or how he knows there is so much sand over there)

Donovan: Why is Seth going to teach you to play the drums?

Caleb: For a couple reasons. Because he is cool. Because he is my mom’s boyfriend. Because he likes me. (I thought this was sweet and it made me smile)
Donovan: Well what makes Seth know how to play the drums?

Caleb: He used to be in a band (now I REALLY know he listens to more of my conversations than I realized!!!)

Donovan: No way dude!

Caleb: Yeah isn’t that so cool? My mom has a really cool boyfriend. (really trying to hold back a giggle now)

Donovan: Yeah he sounds cool and all. My mom only dates losers. (a giggle did escape this time).

Caleb: My mom actually has a nice boyfriend now (yes I do totally agree with him)

Donovan: Well after you learn to play the drums you can teach me

Caleb: Yeah if you are lucky (another giggle escaped from me). And you know what else is really cool?

Donovan: No what?

Caleb: Seth told me that I have to take care of my mom until he gets home. He told me that I would be helping him if I did that. And he told me if I was good for my mom he would take me on a vacation

Donovan: Well the vacation part is cool but I don’t think it’s cool to take care of your mom.

Caleb: Well I don’t really take care of her but if I see her crying or hear her crying I try to make her feel better. (LOL)

Donovan: Where are you going on vacation?

Caleb: Miami Florida (don’t ask me why the kid wants to go here…you’ll find his answer to that in a few)

Donovan: Florida is cool

Caleb: Yeah I’ve been there before. I was 3. I don’t remember a lot about it.

Donovan: Why Miami?

Caleb: Because of the movie Fast and the Furious, duh. (yeah duh…lol).

Donovan: Ok let’s go outside.

Caleb: Yeah ok.

Donovan: Nah let’s not, it’s cold out there

Caleb: Ok let’s play playstation

Donovan: I wish one of us had Guitar Hero

Caleb: Yeah I’m going to tell Seth that’s what I want for my birthday (ok Caleb! Jeez!!!)

Donovan: Dude your birthday is a ways away

Caleb: So what I’m still going to tell him that’s what I want

Donovan: That would rock if you got it

Caleb: I know and I hope I do get it. My mom won’t buy me one because she’s poor. (Ummm thanks Caleb…it’s kind of true though! LOL)

That has got to be the cutest, craziest and funniest conversation I’ve ever heard two kids have! It was so ‘grown up’ in so many ways but yet so ‘kid’ in so many ways. My son amazes me more and more…LOL. And it’s funny how they just ended the conversation and didn’t think any more about it. They stuck a playstation game in and now I’m listening to them talk about the ’stupid game’ (their exact words!).
