Local News: 15.2 Inches of Snow Falls in 4 Days!

I was a bit curious about how much snow we actually received during our nice little storm last weekend.  I feel silly when people ask well how many inches did you receive exactly?  My answer is always, “I don’t know – LOTS”.

So I did some research and checked my local newspaper.  The following is from the paper:

The most recent storm, which moved through Northern Michigan beginning late Saturday evening, dropped 15.2 inches of snow and closed 128 area schools Monday.

It also brought this season’s snowfall total to 37.8 inches. That’s significantly less than this time last year, said NWS meteorologist Scott Rozanski, when the area already had seen 44.5 inches of snowfall.

“The only difference is this (recent snowfall) came in four days,” said Rozanski. “Last year it was spread over months.”

Oh I love Michigan…I love Michigan…ok I’m trying to make myself love it.  Not complaining just stating a simple fact – if you don’t like snow Northern Michigan isn’t the place to live.  And it’s not that I don’t like snow – I just prefer warmer weather.  It was different when I used to snowmobile and ski and all that stuff but it’s been years since I’ve done any of that and I’ve come accustomed to staying inside and being warm.

Anyways if you are by any chance interested in reading the full story from my local paper, you can check it out here.

Holy Moly that’s a lot of snow! Wish I had even a few of those inches here…might justify the fact that my feet are FREEZING! :)
